There's something bothering me about the whole comics versus manga thing the fandom seems to be divided over. I explore some of the issues in the link below for my personal thoughts, but I also go over the idea that while you can readily find American comics and Japanese comics (or manga) there is no sure representative of Australian comics culture, because we're in a situation where content is dumped on us and there doesn't seem to be a big market for Australian comics.
