Youri, a pretty Japanese girl who just passed a college entrance exam, is ecstatic after her first kiss with her handsome childhood friend-turned-boyfriend, Himuro. Meanwhile, she starts to notice that water becomes agitated whenever she goes near it! One night, hands appear out of a puddle on the street and drag her into the water. She emerges from the water to find that she has been transported to an ancient village somewhere in the Middle East. She is then captured by armed troops and taken to the queen's palace, where she learns that the queen had her kidnapped so she can offer her blood as part of a ritual that will kill two princes in competition to inherit the kingdom.

Suicide! Murder! Sex! Illegitimate children! The only dynasty Red River’s twenty-sixth installment can even come close to is the padded shoulders and ’80s production values kind. As Chie Shinohara’s long running Hittite soap opera closes in on the finish line, things begin to wander out of the realm of the melodramatic and into the realm of the just plain crazy.

The final volume of Red River has arrived, and it’s sad to bid farewell to Yuri and Kail. Yuri is a plucky heroine, and it has been fun watching her grow from a quiet, uncertain teenager until a brave, determined young woman. She has always been ruled by a strong sense of justice, putting her life in danger to ensure that good triumphs over evil. Snatched from her family and her home and tossed back in time to ancient Anatolia, she met her fate with courage. Queen Nakia dragged her away from everything she knew and loved, and intended to sacrifice her so that her son Juda could become the king of the Hittites. Along the way, Yuri discovers friends and finds true love. What is not to love about this series?
